Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist and anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively with President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
